All Actions Have Consequences

Have you ever done something, and had repercussions after? It happens sometimes. This is one of the themes in the book Matched by Allie Condie. The main character, Cassia, gets matched with a boy named Xander, but she falls in love with another boy named Ky. The Society obviously had an issue with that, so they did everything that they could to keep them apart, and the couple ignored everything that they had to say, so clearly there were consequences.

In the book, the Officials asked Cassia to stop seeing Ky. She refused because she believed tat she and Ky had was true love. At the end of the book, Cassia says, "Wherever Ky went, It's because of me." This shows that Cassia realizes that because she didn't stay away from Ky like she supposed to, he got taken away from her. She completely ignored all of the warning that the Society gave her, such as taking away the artifacts and all the times that they spoke to her. Cassia wasn't disobeying their rules simply to be rebellious, but because she wanted to follow her heart and to stop letting other people take control over her life for her. Her actions weren't to be defiant, but there were consequences anyway.

In real life, people make mistakes. People do unintentionally bad things. But, people still get punished for things that they didn't do on purpose. For example, if a girl wears a top to school that she thinks is fine, and her teachers disagree, then there could be some punishments in her future, like detention, or having to sweater all day. She didn't mean to go against the rules of her school, but she got punished anyway. This is what I feel like is happening in the book.

In conclusion, actions have consequences, whether you meant to do what you did or not. It happens in books, and it happens in real life too. Sometimes you start off obedient, and then become a rebel as your life continues. Either way, consequences always happen, and sometimes they're just completely unavoidable.
